A victorious opposition should remember Ghana's poorest people voted against it

Opposition politicians brim with confidence after the 7 December elections gave the New Patriotic Party 99 seats in the 200-seat parliament against 92 for the incumbent National Democratic Congress. Three smaller parties hold the balance and one constituency vote must be rerun. None of the candidates got the required 50 per cent in the first round of the presidential vote but the NPP's John Agyekum Kufuor goes into the second round on 28 December with the wind in his sails.
