The ANC's negotiating star is going into business but not to give up politics for good 

Trades union leader, constitutional negotiator, fisherman, devout Christian and now corporate chief, Cyril Ramaphosa looks like the African National Congress' Renaissance man. He was the most plausible alternative to Thabo Mbeki as leader of the ANC after President Nelson Mandela stands down. So why is Ramaphosa going into business and leaving parliament after the next elections? Certainly, he believes he cannot launch an effective challenge to Mbeki now. Senior comrades have been telling him that a leadership contest would damage both country and party.
