Age cannot weary him

The President is mobilising his supporters to remove the age limit so he can stay in office

As memories of February's much-criticised election fade, attention turns to the next challenge facing President Yoweri Museveni: his age. Under the 2005 constitution, the upper age limit for a presidential candidate is 75. That would bar him from standing in 2021: he celebrated his 72nd birthday last week. Museveni seeks to mobilise his governing National Resistance Movement to campaign to change the limits. After the NRM's grass-roots campaign, he would then reluctantly accede to the 'people's will'.
