Can the usurpers unite?

After failing in a no-confidence vote, Jacob Zuma's opponents are lobbying for his impeachment

Twenty minutes after Speaker Baleka Mbete had announced on 8 August that the President had survived yet another confidence vote, a beaming Jacob Zuma, surrounded by bodyguards, swept into the parliamentary precinct in Cape Town. 'Thank you very much indeed, comrades,' Zuma told a crowd of supporters. He laughed off the challenge from the opposition's parliamentary motion. 'They always try… They don't learn that you can't touch the ANC [African National Congress] even if you don't love it.' After a few more throwaway lines, he broke into song and dance on a stage in front of the parliament building as the sun set over Table Mountain.
