Khama moves on Masisi

While professing no intention to remove his hand-picked successor, ex-President Ian Khama looks set to do just that. Although President Mokgweetsi Masisi underwent a lengthy grooming process, Khama now says he prematurely handed over power. He said that he had received legal advice that he remains leader of the ruling Bostwana Democratic Party until the elective congress in July next year. The congress had looked set to confirm Masisi as the party's presidential candidate for the October 2019 elections.
