Unmoved movers

Although dominated by trades unionists, the Movement for Democratic Change, launched on 11 September, is a formidable coalition: lawyers, war veterans, students and activists from the women's movement and residents' associations (AC Vol 40 No 18). Tsvangirai says that an executive committee will be elected in December, when he's back from a six-country trip to Europe to drum up support. He'll have to be careful: ministers are already accusing foreign powers, notably Denmark, of financing the new party.
