Abiy looks west

Pushing ahead with a pro-market reform programme as it tries to restructure its foreign debts and secure a loan from the IMF, Abiy Ahmed's government is fighting on many fronts. Complicating matters further are the armed insurgencies in the Amhara and Oromo regions, and its prickly relations with the United States and other western governments. Now Abiy wants to repair some of the diplomatic damage and win some western investment.
