Champagne in the Delta

At Government House in Port Harcourt last week, waiters scurried around pouring bottles of Cristal champagne as a white jacketed crooner sang Frank Sinatra's 'My way' in honour of outgoing Rivers State Governor Peter Odili. That was not the send-off planned by staff at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, who have been investigating Odili's financial affairs for the past two years and effectively blocked his bid for the presidency.
