Suing the messenger

Jacob Zuma rarely hides his distaste of journalists - particularly those who ridiculed his presidential ambitions and his political commitment - and his supporters rail against media enemies who portrayed him as a populist buffoon. His landslide election allows him to claim the people's support and he styles himself a defender of free speech, but he has several libel actions pending against South African journalists.
