Khama control

Delivery 'to the expectations of Batswana' is to be top priority of the new government, President Seretse Khama Ian Khama announced at his inauguration on 21 October following his landslide election win (AC Vol 50 No 21). This adds another 'd' to the other targets - democracy, development, dignity and discipline - that Lieutenant General Khama set out on taking over from President Festus Mogae in April 2008. Government would tackle unemployment, crime, HIV-AIDS and 'declining social values', pledged teetotaller Khama, who has already imposed swingeing taxes on alcohol.
