Who is Hunzvi?

The irresistible rise of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans' Association's leader, Chenjerai 'Hitler' Hunzvi, to political stardom this year was achieved by his intelligent use of one of the most powerful constituencies in Zimbabwe: the veterans and their families. He promoted their cause when others in the ZANU-PF hierarchy, obsessed by the presidential succession issue, had downplayed or ignored the veterans' grievances. Even when senior ZANU-PF officials were accused of rifling the ex-combatants' pension fund, the party hierarchy was reluctant to act and punish its own.
