Taylor's gaolers

Could the United States stomach a Charles Taylor presidency? And how would it cope with his US prison record? As General Services Agency director under Samuel Doe, Taylor was accused of embezzling some US$1 million from the government. This came after Taylor and Doe fell out, we hear. Taylor fled to the USA, where an extradition warrant was issued, at Doe's request. Picked up in an apartment in Somerville, Massachusetts on 24 May 1984, Taylor, then 37, spent the next 15 months in the old Plymouth House of Correction.
