A company with a controversial past blazes a new trail across the continent

The South African heading the controversial DiamondWorks company, Antonio Carlos Teixeira, better known as 'Tony', is a man in a hurry. He is expanding DiamondWorks' mining operations and moving into oil trading and exploration, and even into banking (AC Vol 45 No 3). Apart from established projects in Angola, Sierra Leone and South Africa, Teixeira has begun operating in Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria and São Tomé e Príncipe. There is concern about the substance behind this rapid expansion.
