The fall-out that triggered the exits of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his long-serving Deputy and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen is another sign of the widening gap between Abiy and his former associates from Amhara; and more broadly between the Amhara political establishment and its counterparts in Oromia.
