No Bretton Woods moment

Bold plans to restructure the international financial institutions are being drawn out by political opposition and bureaucratic inertia

At the International Monetary Fund and World Bank spring meetings In Washington DC on 19 April the Fund's International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) – comprising IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, finance ministers and central bank governors – commended Africa's upcoming receipt of a third seat on the 24-member IMF Executive Board in November. This follows a commitment made at the IMF and World Bank meetings in Marrakech last October.
