Three important African allies of French President Nicolas Sarkozy could find their French assets under scrutiny after Juge d'Instruction Françoise Desset ruled on 6 May that an anti-corruption case against them (see AC 50 Vol 5) should proceed. The lawyer behind the case is William Bourdon, who represents a coalition of African and French anti-corruption campaigners.
