Downtown crackdown

The National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Board, whose mandate is to ensure that 51% of the economy is indigenised by 2015, is swinging into action. David Chapfika, the NIEB Chairman, has given notice that a crackdown on non-indigenous retailers is imminent. The target is the Nigerian and Chinese traders who sell their wares in the downtown areas of Harare and other cities.
