No vote for UNIP

The elections have been set for 18 November, despite ex-President Kenneth Kaunda's insistence that the United National Independence Party and five other parties will boycott them. The boycotters, who include Roger Chongwe' s Liberal Progressive Front, the National Democratic party, Labour Party and Grassroots Peoples' Front, plan a national protest campaign against what they say will be rigged elections. With UNIP out of the race, President Frederick Chiluba is more or less assured of victory.
