Parliamentary Speaker Emmerson Mnangagwa stakes a claim to the succession

Feared and unpopular he may be but Parliamentary Speaker Emmerson Mnangagwa has now revealed himself to be a serious contender for the vacant vice-presidency. What is most remarkable is that he has kicked off his campaign in Matebeleland, where he is widely blamed for the Gukurahundi campaign of the early 1980s, when tens of thousands of Ndebele presumed opposition supporters were massacred.
