Don't call them transit camps

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker officially abandoned the idea that the European Union was trying to set up migrant camps in North Africa during a visit to Tunisia on 26 October (AC Vol 59 No 14). 'This is no longer on the agenda and never should have been,' Juncker told a news conference in Tunis with Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed. Commission officials say that the EU executive's new preferred phraseology is 'regional disembarkation arrangements'.
